What was the white/black racial composition of US after civil war?

Today it is 12% after very little black and massive white immigration since 1865.
underenumeration in Southern States Han. Blacks would have had political power without gerrymandering given universal suffrage!

I did some searching through census records, and here are some figures that might help answer your question.

A note on the 1870 population data says: "Revisions to include adjustments for underenumeration in the Southern States show a total (both sexes) of 34,337,292 for white and 5,392,172 for Negro."

Looks to me like like the 1870 population was about 39.7 million, with the percentage of blacks at about 13.5%.
