I'm cutting down a black walnut tree. How do I sell the wood?

I have to cut down a very large black walnut tree. I know the wood is valuable. Does anyone know how to go about selling the wood?

I would call a lumber dealer. Look in your phone book for "hardwoods".

You also need to take care when cutting it. You don't wish to damage the wood in the process. You'll need to make sure that there are no nails in the tree (though most lumber yards use a metal detector, nails make the cutting more difficult).

The price you will get for the wood depends on the quality, length, number of board feet, who transports it and that sort of thing.

Again, call a lumber yard or hardwood dealer.
