What are some major changes that the New York Stock Exchange has gone through over the last five years?

I know that they sold off the AMEX but I am looking for some more. Thanks a ton for your help!!

Well to start with they did not sell off the AMEX The American Stock Exchange is a completely separate Exchange, one has nothing to do with the other. The two biggest changes they have gone through are demutualization (becoming a for profit corporation) They are now listed as the NYSE Group. Second they acquired Arca the Chicago based electronic communication network (ECN) and because of these two factors they are doing very well.
