Stearic Acid

Can anyone tell me how to remove stearic acid from a mixture containing salt, sand and stearic acid?

using something that can be found in a high school chemistry lab

Stearic acid is an organic acid. It will dissolve in organic solvents. The referenced paper suggests that ethyl acetate is a good solvent for stearic acid. (Care -- ethyl acetate is flammable).

Place the mixture of stearic acid, salt and sand in ethyl acetate. Stir until all stearic acid is dissolved. Filter to remove salt and sand. The sand is insoluble and the salt is insoluble in the organic solvent. Evaporate the ethyl acetate to recover the stearic acid.
