Pig Hides
When will my guinea pig get used to me?
I just got a guinea pig 3 days ago, and big cage, food, water, a toy, etc... I also put a box in there for him to hide in. However, he hides in there most of the day and when i try to hold him he just tries to shake away from me.
How long does it usually take for guinea pigs to get used to there surroundings/ me? I just want him to like me.

Sneezing is totally normal. Something that will help to get your guinea pig better adjusted to you is to get rid of the box in his cage. It makes the guinea pig shyer and he won't want to play with you. He will just get used to hiding in his box all the time, he won't be social and interact with you. Honestly, no matter how bad this may sound, the thing that got my guinea pig adjusted to me was to just yank him out of the cage and make him sit on my lap for a while! It also helps to give him treats, hold them at the door of his cage and let him come to you. Guinea pigs love clover... just get some out of your yard and it makes an amazing treat!
