Growth Mahogany
Calf be showable? please help.?
Hey, i have a 6 month old hereford jersey cross, she is a beautiful mahogany red with black brindle kind of markings. she is the most easly handled calf i have hever seen i can pickup her legs and check her teeth and all that jazz.. and i will be working on mounting her as a -breaking to ride- project! lol so i was wondering if she would be eligible for a hereford show at my local fair or a jersey show. do they usually accept cross breds she has some asthetic flaws...(read on)? PLUS i need to know what i can do about horn growth on one side after un-successful horn burn?
ALSO- lol can you give me any tips on helping break a calf to ride, i broke my steer so i know how but what do you do?
Most of the time they have a special class that you can put her in. You would just have to get with the show that you are wanting to go to and see what their requirements are. Every show is different. Some Only accept pure bred. As far as the horn growth you can redo the horn burn it wont hurt her she will just be a little harder to handel now because she has been there done that. You would break her the same way you did your steer. You just have to be careful on the heifers not to put a kink in their backs.
