Charged after the deposit has not been made?
My husband and I recently moved from our apartment. We have not received our deposit back and probably will not. Our air conditioner broke out several times this summer and a leak on the rug under a table. We had no idea that the air conditioner was leaking. We have, however, ask the landlord to fix our AC several times. When we moved, our landlord called and told us that we probably owe him money for damages caused to the carpet. Will we have to pay for damage caused by the AC leak if it was to replace several times? He said the wood under the carpet is distorted. You do not know what to do here .......
Sue, he settled out of court. You do not need proof, as he knows the judge will decide in your favor anyway. He can not charge you for this.
