is ABS Plastic a Strong Sturdy plastic for an air gun?

well the thing is im soon getting an co2 powered air pistol and when i heard that the gun was made of metal and ABS plastic i thought "plastic?... why would they use plastic?" i also realized how the slide on the top snaps back so fast, powerfully and constantly, if the plastic can take such a beating and stay sturdy and strong. please reply thanks

ABS is quite durable, but if the slide on a CO2 GBB is made of anything but good quality metal, you can count on it smacking you in the face when it flies off the frame of the pistol.
